Do more nothing

Excuse me while I indulge in my “JOMO” (Joy of Missing Out). I’m dropping in on meta for a quick second to recommend a book📕 that is aligned with so much I’ve been thinking, saying, practicing lately.

👶🏻👶🏻 Life with 2 babies under the age of 2 — not my sheer willpower — helped me drop my social media use to about 0–15 minutes a week. My mental health has improved tremendously. I am a lot more in touch with my emotions, better at distinguishing my own thoughts and feelings from what I sponge in from online content.

💩💩 This is not to say I feel joyous all the time or I don’t have nervous breakdowns anymore. No. Reducing Insta time alone has not helped me clear my ever exponentially growing to-do list. It only emphasized its impossibility. Almost halfway through the year, half of the books I finished are on potty training. Clearly, I’m off track with my reading goals. The curse of an overachiever is to achieve nothing in the end.

⏳⌛️I put a hold on “Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals” nearly 12 weeks ago on the Los Angeles Library’s @libbyapp. My turn to borrow it came serendipitously this week, just as I needed some of the thoughts here to remember how to live life: Miss out on most things without fear.

⏸ Time feels sped up, as it does and will as one grows older. After this post, I’ll use my ridiculously short time on this Earth to do absolutely NOTHING for a few minutes. 💁🏻‍♀️
