The nurse who drew my blood today is the best I’ve ever had in America. She is also the mother of a boy and the dauntless wife of a stay-at-home father.
She told me she wants her husband to do “the house things.” She is grateful for her mother-in-law for raising a good son who knows how to do run a home, versus, her family didn’t. She was raised to earn money.
I almost wished there were more tubes to fill my blood with so I could learn more about her. So something about her might rub off on to me.
“With the second on the way,” that’s when I noticed her pregnancy, “My husband says it’s weird not to work. No no! I earn enough for both of us, I don’t need him to work, and everyone agrees. My family, his family.”
And everyone stays sane.
